Running on a treadmill is not a simple as putting 1 leg in front of the other. Far too many people run either too slow, never actually gaining and real benefit from the treadmill machine.
If you can try and run in front of a mirror as you will then be able to see clearly how you look running - it can sometimes be quite scary, but it will always be useful.
