Bad Breath

There can be a number of underlying causes other than the odour of recently consumed food or drink that causes Bad breath or Halitosis.

Bad breath or Halitosis can be produced by dental or gum disease, fermentation of food particles in the mouth, inhaled substances e.g., smoking, sinusitis and nasal infections, or can be associated with underlying diseases such as diabetes, lung infections, liver disorders etc.

Treatment of the underlying cause will normally resolve the problem e.g. extra attention to flossing and cleaning dentures and regular dental check-ups.
