Antibiotics
Antibiotics are substances derived from microorganisms, and act by destroying or inhibiting the growth of other microorganisms.
Antibiotics are used to treat infections caused by such organisms, and are chosen for their sensitivity and specificity. There is a wide range of groups of different antibiotics, which can be specific or broad spectrum based.
Antibiotics have no use in the treatment of fungal or viral infections, as the causative agent is not bacterial.
